On this day Sweat Out The Small Stuff turns four

I can’t remember the last time I posted twice in one day but after I shared this morning’s post about my toe setback and yoga and mental health progress I realized that it was 4 years ago today that I shared my very first post here on Sweat Out the Small Stuff so it’s my 4 year blogaversary!

4-year blogaversary!

Also, Facebook’s “On this day” feature let me know that a friend shared this article about returning to running after soft tissue injury that was shared with me via Facebook on this day back in 2014 when I had my ankle injury. Basically it says start with a 10 minute run. Then if all feels good add 2 minutes to the next run and so on and so forth. But if there is pain, reduce by 2 minutes. So even though I started out running about 12 minutes my first run back, I increased mileage (and overall time) much quicker.

When did you start reading my blog? Have you been around a short while? Since the beginning or did you just discover it today?

What other blogs do you read?

Hey ho!

Yesterday was my 3 year Blogaversary!

3 years of running and sweating out all of my anxiety

3 years of running and sweating out all most of my anxiety

I’m still enjoying the process as much as I did while writing my very first post. Here’s what I said when Sweat Out The Small Stuff turned 1 and when it turned 2.

I was so tired yesterday. I think the busy weekend took it’s toll on me. After my long run Friday night, I continued to have a busy weekend. My niece turned 16 last month and we had a day in the city planned to celebrate on Saturday. Her request was taking a walk on the High Line. I hadn’t ever been so I was super excited about the suggestion.

We entered on 20th street which was sort of in the middle but eventually made our way along the entire stretch

The best part of the day was just getting that one-on-one time to chat. I love that I can talk to her about things in my life that I might have considered too adult for her just a few years ago. And I can really appreciate listening to her talk about the trials and tribulations of high school. I remember those days. Plus wwe got some sweet snacks too.

Sunday is mostly pictureless but it started with taking Duncan to the park.

He always wins

I wanted to run a few miles but he gave me the guilt face and I only had time for one of the two activities because I had brunch plans with my friend Sue and her cousin and then had to hightail it out to New Jersey to see Mr. SOTSS’ daughter’s dance recital (which was adorable!)

Last night after work I ran 4 miles. IMG_3695The weather was perfection….70 degrees and breezy. But I had the worst side stitch ever for the first 3 miles. Probably because my dinner hadn’t really been digested yet.

And then Duncan entertained me with his paper towel shredding.

And then he passed out…

IMG_3702Well, I’m off to work.

Have a great day!

Do you like Ice cream sandwiches?

Do you like running in the evenings? (Have I asked this one already?)

Are you a regular reader of my blog? Do you remember when you first started reading?

So I just noticed that June 13th was my 2nd blog anniversary. I’m 5 days late! OOpsie! It’s crazy to think I’ve stuck with this for 2 years already. My life has changed so much in the last 2 years but one thing that hasn’t changed is my love of running and of course I still stand firm that it’s the best way for me to sweat out the small stuff!

My first post!

My first blog anniversary post!

Yesterday morning I met my friend Robin for a 5 mile run along the boardwalk. By 9am I had reached 10,000 steps. Love those kind of mornings.

I love the sun sparkled water and of course my favorite Verrazano Bridge!

My nephew turned 17 on Tuesday. It’s crazy to think he’s not that little toddler on the left anymore.

I’m taking a rest day today. It’s actually good running weather—cool and rainy—but I know I need the rest so I will refrain and stretch and foam roll instead.

Last weekend my boyfriend’s daughter had a dance recital. It made me a little nostalgic so in honor of #throwbackthursday here is one of my very adorable recital shots =)

And before I leave you all to get some work done I just thought I’d share this pic of Duncan from last night. He was in his “Northern Exposure” phase and pulled out a buffalo and Bullwinkle the Moose. HA HA!!!!

Hope you all have a super day!

What did you eat for breakfast today?

I had peanut butter and apricot preserves on whole wheat toast and COFFEE!
