I was given a pair of these free of charge. I’m sharing my thoughts (and a discount promo code!) with you. All opinions are my own. While the leggings were given to me I am not being compensated to write this review.

RBX Active Digital Camo Legging

Last Friday, I took advantage of my day off and headed out for a run in the late morning—my favorite. It was a beautiful day and I had just received a package a few days earlier containing a pair of leggings—the RBX Active Digital Camo Leggings (you can view the entire collection here)

The big story here I think has to do with affordability. These leggings only cost $29.99. Plus, if you use the discount promo code: Active25 you’ll get a 25% discount (good through 7/31/15). You’ll also get free shipping for purchases over $50  (after the coupon deduction).

I usually wear black leggings or capris so I wasn’t sure how I’d like the pattern but I ended up liking them a lot. Mine are gray with glowing green accents but it comes in a few other colors too.

My favorite part of these is the waistband. It’s flattering and stayed up even without a drawstring of any kind. There’s also a pocket in the top of the waistband to store a key or money.

And best of all I finally have bottoms to match my super bright NJ Marathon finisher’s shirt =)

The fabric is light so I’d say these are best for warmer weather outdoor running and indoor sports and gym classes. I’ve only worn them once for just 3 miles so I’ll post back soon to let you know how they’ve held up (I’ll do this before the discount code expires though!)

They are machine washable, sweat wicking and have flat lock seams to prevent chafing.

Sizes range S-M-L-XL fitting 4/6, 6/8. 8/10, 12-14. I am wearing the Medium (6/8) and they fit true to size. I’m short (5′ 3″) so if you’re taller you can expect them to be a bit more like capris.

Do you wear patterned shorts, capris or leggings or are you more of a solid black kinda person?

Hi!

Last night I met up with a whole bunch of friends from High School at this old German bar near where I live. We had fun catching up on what’s been going on lately and talking about the past too. Then we went to the diner and ate french fries and such. I didn’t get home until after 1am. It was so much fun! Sometimes I wish I could re-do High School. I was so insecure then.

This morning I got up and took it easy on the couch just burying my head and recovering from my late night.

not ready yet!

Of course my laptop and my credit card were in arms reach, so I signed up for some more races for 2014. I’ll be doing the Fred Lebow Manhattan Half on January 26th, the Love Run in Philadelphia on March 30th and the Trenton Half (again) on November 8th.

I <3 Half Marathons!

By 11:30 I was ready to go for a run. Again, no particular distance to cover. It was warm again. In the mid 50s. I ended up with just under 7 1/2 miles total. (watch got screwy and I had to restart around .37 miles in.

I did the usual neighborhood jaunt and entered into the park for about 1/4 mile for a nice change of scenery (and for a photo op).

Oh, and I’m starting to change my mind about the new HB Tuneband phone holder strap. I wore it today and found it much easier to remove the phone to take pictures and then put it back in. =)

Since the dog didn’t get much of my attention yesterday I made up for it with a nice long walk.

We really exhausted ourselves up and down hills through trails, open fields and on the beach.

I tried really hard to get a good photo of us using the timer camera app on my phone.  I’d say after 3 tries it was a great big #fail…

We got home a little while ago and now it’s already dark:( But the days are officially getting longer…The doodle is worn out after that long walk.

And after 10+ miles on my feet I’m worn out too. Time to kick back and relax for a bit. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Question: Have you made any plans for 2014 yet? Vacation booked? Signed up for a race? Getting together with an old friend (or group of friends)?

Happy Sunday!

First, let me start off by saying if I don’t make complete sentences it’s because i’m so tired! I’ve partied like a rockstar at the new Club 40 (years old) for a few days straight now…

Friday night I met some good friends and former co-workers for a celebratory birthday dinner. We’re closing in on almost 20 years of friendship!

I stayed out fairly late and didn’t really sleep or prepare much for yesterday morning’s long run. But I pulled it together and met my friends at the base of the Queensboro Bridge where we ran over it into Queens, then back into Manhattan, up 1st Ave into the Bronx and then back down 5th Ave in Manhattan before splitting up at 90th and Central Park West. (basically the last 11 miles of the NYC marathon course).

I’m coming for you mile 16 next Sunday 2:10pm!!!!

I continued running toward my car on 57th street and although I was shooting to run 12 miles, I stopped at 11.8 because Starbucks had made me a latte (well, technically they didn’t start making it until I went in and ordered it….technically schmecnically)

lots of traffic lights slowed us down

I walked an additional block back to my car and then headed home for some last minute packing and prep before heading to my brother’s house for my big party.

Have I mentioned how much I love the fall foliage lately? (probably a dozen times i’m sure)

Then my party happened:

It was such a great night! My cake was made by an amazing cake decorator who took my bib/medal/mums idea and ran with it (get it? see what i did just there?). And my amazing friend, the Rescue Baker made my favorite delicious cookies.

I got so many wonderful gifts, many of which were running inspired…

I am so truly lucky to have great friends and family. So now I’ve caught you up on my birthday weekend. I am going to hibernate for a long time take a nap now and then get myself prepared for the week.

At this time next sunday I’ll have just crossed the finish line of the NYC Marathon! Woo hoo!

Question: What’s the best birthday gift you ever got? How much cake is considered too much cake to eat in a day?

How’s that for a post title?!

Last night I made some quick purchases at Dicks Sporting Goods online running shop. I got a new waterproof Spibelt. My other one is a few years old and seems to not be so waterproof anymore =)I also got some socks and the most essential summer running gear item ever….Bodyglide to combat the chafing (i got a larger stick and some smaller portable tubs to take along with me!!!!

gear tidbits

This morning was tough for me to get up. I had this muppet giving me his “can you call in sick so we spoon all day ma?” look.

Good morning!

Work was busy. My boss is on vacation and I’m trying to just “get ‘er done” without disturbing him. =) Both my morning and evening commutes flat out blew chunks! Seriously, close to 2 hours each way. The evening commute gifted me this fellow commuter who FELL ASLEEP ON ME!!!! EEEEWWWWW!!!!

66722_10201569237694479_215668024_n

he’s squishing me!

OK enough of the odds n ends. On to my ergonomic enigma! I sit for many hours at work and my back and neck don’t like it. I have tried cushions on the seat. No good. I’m now thinking that I want to try one of those wacko exercise ball chairs. Like this one. I hope that will be the answer. My core is so weak. Perhaps this will help me with my posture and strengthen my core.

Today was a rest day. I’m going to run 4 tomorrow.

Question: Has anyone ever gone the exercise ball chair route? Thoughts?
