It’s 54 degrees and rainy today. It was close to or over 90 degrees last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I going from air conditioning to heated seats in the car. 🙂weird weatherSpeaking of heated….i’m loving that the yoga studio is warmed to about 82 degrees during class. I went to class on Saturday and then went for a run. I RAN 4 MILES!!!!

It’s been the longest run since before my injury back in Mid-March. And the honeysuckles are emerging and I couldn’t be happier.

Had I not had this injury I would have been running the Brooklyn Half on Saturday so it was really nice to not only have a great yoga class in its place but to be able to run 4 miles as well. It helped me handle the situation rather well. Although the day before I had a sad moment and handled the situation by giving myself some TLC in the form of a Donut and some weird toe massage thingys.

I’m really excited that I’ll FINALLY be able to run a race that I registered for next weekend….the Spring Lake 5 miler. I ran it last year after being injured or just spectating the two years prior.

Last Thursday Mr. SOTSS and I attended a fundraiser event held by the Greenbelt Conservancy here on Staten Island. They are the organization that maintains the trails and organizes the weekly night hikes that I joined earlier this year. They are also now my client which I love.

Had fun in the photo booth with my hiking group and got to ride a carousel too

Other than yoga and running this weekend, we took the doggies for a walk at a new park (ticks! I hate them! Duncan ended up with 3).

Nope I'm not sick....just look a little green from the light filtering through the green leaves above me. Wearing a green sweatshirt doesn't help the color balance lol!

Happy pups each in their own lane. Of course Chester is in the "fast lane"

Then we made beef and chicken kebobs on the grill. I even made some Tzatziki to go with them.

I’ll be working all day while it rains outside and then hitting up yoga tonight. It’s still so bizarre that the word yoga has entered my life. I’m so happily surprised at how much I love it. 🙂

  1. That’s great news that you are up and at them again!! Ticks? I’ve never had to deal with them before; do you have to check Duncan after every walk?? The weather this year is a yo-yo here in mainland Europe too!

    • Pretty much have to check him after every walk that we do in a woodsy area. If we’re just in the neighborhood walking on sidewalks we’re ok. Ticks hang out in tall grassy areas. Of course our favorite thing to do is go hiking and walking in the woods. So until Winter I’ll be inspecting him a whole lot. Luckily the preventative medicine I give him kills the ones I don’t see and pull off.

  2. We are having crazy weather in Colorado, too. Last Thursday/Friday we had about 5 inches of snow and by Saturday/Sunday it was all melted and shorts weather (well, shorts for some…not me quite yet!). Yay a 4 mile run. That is so inspiring! How is your toe feeling? Do you like the Altras? I love that yoga is in your life. I think yoga should be in everyone’s life! Keep up the great work.

    • My friend just ran a marathon in Colorado this weekend and posted pics of the snow like Thursday and then said marathon Sunday was warm! So I love the Altras! I’m only using them for walking at the moment. I figured I should wait to be totally healed before introducing them to running. The toe is mostly achy on and off. I can walk for 30 minutes and forget I ever had an injury and then it’ll get sore and achy. And when I run I find the ache begins about 2 miles into it. But I know it’s improving because i’m not limping at all even after running. That very first run I did 2 weeks ago I felt a little limpy afterward. Loving yoga! I feel so good right after I leave the studio. I just can’t wait to feel the effects longterm.

      • Really great news — coming back you always have the aches and pains. I am trying to mentally prepare myself for that once I am cleared to run again. Did your friend run the Colfax Marathon? Sunday was gorgeous weather….sun, but not too hot…no wind! Thanks for the update on the Altras. Thinking of maybe trying them but not sure. I guess I should say ‘scared to try anything new at this point’.
