I’m getting a little better with blogging from my phone. #aimhigh
I got up before 7am and walked my cousins oldest daughter to school. I dig her sparkly sequin backpack.

Next up was a quick run. It’s so nice and flat here in Arizona.

And I enjoy a cactus that happy to see me. Schawing!

I covered 2.25 miles plus the walk was about 1.5 miles.

By 9am I was showered and ready to get going with my three first cousins Sabrina, Serena and Stacy…yep, the 4 S’s. We are coolio! We started out at Starbucks and then hit up some outlets before having lunch and froyo.

I’m really happy we all had this day together. Everyone took off from work to see me which is so awesome sauce.

It started to rain so we went to Target.

IMG_9295.JPG

I got some cool things:

Glow in the dark necklaces for my Ragnar teammates

IMG_9299.JPG

This Champion running skirt on clearance for $13!

IMG_9300.JPG
And for $7 I couldn’t pass up this football player costume for the dog. It even has shoulder pads.

IMG_9297.JPG
Tonight we are all going to have dinner with my aunt and uncle too!
And then I pack up and head to San Francisco in the morning. Operation “Call Me A Cab”….Sally reporting for Ragnar Relay Duty! I can’t wait!!!!

So what did you do today? How often do you shop in Target? Do you ever leave with just what you went in for or do you buy extra stuff?

Howdy. Happy Tuesday!
I’m currently on a plane headed to Phoenix. Good news…No turbulence. Bad news…my bean bag neck pillow sprung a leak and it looks like I just dumped out the remnants of a box of SnoCaps on the floor. #soembarrassed.

Disclaimer: iPhone WordPress blogging and in-flight wifi is not a good combo so I think you will be reading this way after I am off this plane 🙂

Last night i finally finished packing and discovered that the backpack that I bought has an exterior strap that is supposed to hold a snowboard. It worked perfectly for holding my hat and visor. 🙂

I breezed thru the security checkpoint and had an hour to kill in the airport. Luckily they changed gates on me and it required a very long walk to get to the new gate. So that killed some time. And then I rewarded myself with a yummy egg sandwich.

I had all the essentials for this flight set up before takeoff. I’m loving the latest edition of runners world. Lots of great info. Now that my travel pillow ordeal is over I’m going to dive into reviewing my legs of the relay.

Well time to go spend some quality time with family. Catch ya later.

Hi folks

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was perfect.

I ran twice on Friday wrapping up the bulk of my Ragnar training.

photo 1

My early run was S-L-O-W but in the evening I got a little pep in my step. =)

I spent Saturday indoors almost all day thanks to the rain but I watched the movie The Notebook. It came out 10 years ago and I hadn’t ever seen it before until Saturday. Cray Cray! I didn’t run though because the cumulative running in the days prior left me sore and I needed a rest day. But I did do some push ups (over the dog for added skill) Combined with an all day rainy day it was perfect.

Yesterday I went for a hike that lasted a couple of hours. It was great cross-training.

I also had a root beer float! So good!

And these characters got to go to Petco!

Did you say Petco???

And I am almost finished packing for my trip. Even though the relay isn’t until Friday I’m headed out west a few days early to visit with my Arizona first cousins!

The weather here has become just a bit cooler giving us a great Fall preview. I’ll be in Napa on the first day of Fall but fly home right after and can’t wait to be returning home just as my favorite season begins. I just swapped out my summery hand soap for this one.

photo 3Have a great week!

What’s your favorite season? Do you live somewhere where the seasons change? Do you swap out scented things like candles, bedding etc for the seasons?

Hi folks

It’s September 11th… I just want to start out by sharing this Facebook exchange…

sallpostsusanreplyYeah, I’m lucky to have come out of that tragedy practically unscathed. Susan never made it to her office (thank god!). Her picture frames on her desk and other personal effects became dust like the thousands of human beings we lost that day. I’ll never forget how scared I was 2 days later as I tried to resume “normalcy” and return to work. This just touches the surface of how that day has changed me and I’m sure all of us. How often do you find yourself meeting someone new, a stranger and somehow the question gets asked “Where were you on 9/11?”.

And so I set out for this morning’s run with that this, the 13th anniversary on my mind as I do so often (I still break into a sweat when my bus gets stuck in traffic in the tunnel or on a bridge thinking “is this the next target? am I going to die right now?). I actually set out for 6 miles today but I’m just feeling so sluggish. I decided to cut it short at 5.

photo 4

It’s crazy to me that lately I’m struggling with the mile between 4 and 5. It feels like I’m running a marathon. It’s like all I have in me is 3 milers and then I just poop out. I’m taking a step back to look at the big picture. It’s OK! I’m slow, I’m sluggish. But I’m still able to run. And have felt only minor aches in the injured foot that I seem to recover from quickly. #endsoapbox

I ran along the beach on a nice flat loose gravel trail. Thought that’d be a nice change of pace from my usual asphalt route. Oh, and I went and had a moment of silence on the beach. All was serene until I realized I stepped a little too close to the shoreline and the water came right up over my feet! #whoopsie

photo 1

I was so thirsty when I finished I guzzled 3 bottles of H2O!

photo 2 Of course I’ve been digging to the bottom of my running gear bin to wear every one of my past Ragnar shirts. Today was from 2011 =)photo 3

I’m currently drying out my kicks with the old trick of stuffing newspaper inside.

photo 5

I’ll rewind to last night quickly. Instead of running my 2-a-day today I opted to run late last night and then this morning. So I followed the moon for 3 miles and practiced running in the dark. Really gotta be Ragnar ready right?

nightrun

Tomorrow I’m going to try for 3 runs. But only 2-3 miles each and then I think I’ll be taking a rest day. Holy cheese balls I’m leaving on Tuesday!

Have a lovely evening with your favorite people and make sure to appreciate them.

If you could tell one person something that you’ve always felt about them but never shared who would that be and what would you tell them?

Where were you on 9-11-01 and how did you find out about the terrorist attacks?
